Roots & Culture

The relationship between food, land, social justice and culture is an important part of the conversation that can lead diverse communities towards greater equity in society. Developing a culture of self-reliance is at the core of this project.

We are interested in how diverse communities living in the west can increase our stake in rural areas. When our parents and first generation migrants moved to the UK and other western countries, they were crammed into tight inner city dwellings (concrete jungles) which were at odds with the largely countryside environments they had came from. For various reasons the countryside in western countries has often seemed like a place that is out of bounds for our communities, however we think it is our most natural setting and we will be working towards creating better access.
